About Us
We are specialists in French Polishing - repairs, restoration and finishing
Established in 2006, R Young & Sons French Polishing Limited continues a family trade dating back to 1873.
From a young age Robert showed a keen interest in French polishing and began learning the art of traditional hand French polishing from his grandfather James. This included the preparation, mixing of stains and finishing using traditional methods and materials.
Whilst serving his apprenticeship at Locks of London, Robert carried out his studies and qualified at the London College of Furniture.
We carry out the finishing and restoration to your domestic pieces such as coffee tables, dining tables, kitchen units, floors, panelling, handrails and staircases.
Period Property & Antique Furniture Restoration
At R Young & Sons French Polishing Ltd we have years of experience and expert knowledge in the restoration process. You can be assured that we can overcome the effects of fire, flood, damage caused in transit, accidents and general wear and tear.
Spray Finishing
We offer a full range of spray finishing services including water-based, two-pack acid catalyst, polyurethane and polyester lacquers. We also provide a pigmented spray lacquer service where we are able to colour match from either a sample or popular ranges including Farrow and Ball, Little Green and Dulux. All finishes can be carried out to whatever sheen level is required, ranging from a 0% sheen matt through to a 100% full wet gloss.
Furniture Repair & Restoration
We offer a wide range of services to all of our residential and commercial customers and provide a collection and delivery service for furniture that needs to be restored in our workshop.
Using the best quality materials, we use our extensive knowledge and experience to ensure that all of our works are carried out to the highest possible standard.
Staircases & Handrail Finishing & Restoration
French polishing to stairs, treads, risers, newels, stringers, aprons and handrails.
Whether you require the restoration of an old staircase or the finishing of a new one, we can help.
Commercial Finishing, Repairs & Maintenance
At R Young & Sons French Polishing Limited we carry out polishing for our commercial sector customers in all locations.
We offer out of hour’s maintenance programmes to suit our client’s needs. We can arrange for works to be carried out over evening and weekends to ensure minimal disruption in the work place.
